October 23, 2022

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that it was another week of mixed fall fishing on the Black Hawk. Our bottom fishing trips showed a good mix of porgies and seabass, with a cod here and there on some trips. Some trips required a bit more work and time at the rail to fill the coolers, but those who did that were rewarded.

Our bluefish and striped bass trip started off with some blues…then we quickly moved to Plan B, and ended up with some seabass, porgies, and blackfish- a true mixed bag!

We’ll be doing more combo trips- adding in some blackfishing to the bottom fishing trips- as we continue the season. We continue to fish every day, weather depending, so check our website for schedules and tickets. As we move into late fall and winter fishing, we further limit the capacity on each trip, so be sure to grab your tickets right away if you have a particular date you’d like to fish with us.

As a reminder, we post new trips every Monday night at 8pm, for trips approximately 3 weeks ahead of time. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

October 16, 2022

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that it was an up and down week on the Black Hawk. Our bottom fishing trips showed a good mix of porgies and seabass, but not the non-stop action like we were accustomed to. Our bluefish and striped bass trip had good numbers of bluefish, with a nice mix of bass in the mix as well! We have a few more of these trips coming up, so join us soon!

Our combo blackfish/bottom fishing trips showed great numbers of blackfish on our opening trip, with fish to 12 pounds. Our Friday morning trip had a full boat limit of blackfish!

We continue to fish every day, weather depending, so check our website for schedules and tickets. We do have some dates available for private charters during our weekday full day trips, so be sure to contact us if you’d like to set something up.

As a reminder, we post new trips every Monday night at 8pm, for trips approximately 3 weeks ahead of time. Grab your tickets right away if you have a particular date you’d like! We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

October 9, 2022

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that when we were finally able to get back out after five days at the dock, the fishing wasn’t as good as we expected. Friday’s trip had decent numbers of porgies, but nothing like we were getting before the storm. We had some nice seabass and even a few cod in the mix as well. Between the full moon tides and the wind, the weekend had some more tough trips, with porgies and seabass, but again, nothing like we’ve been accustomed to. Things should calm down a bit and get back to normal soon- we can’t wait!

We continue to fish every day, weather depending, so check our website for schedules and tickets. We do have some dates available for private charters during our weekday full day trips, so be sure to contact us if you’d like to set something up.

We’ll be adding some blackfish trips soon, and doing our popular “combo trips” in November, when we’ll spend part of the day black fishing and part of the day bottom fishing. The first of these trips will be posted on Monday night, so be sure to grab your tickets!

As a reminder, we post new trips every Monday night at 8pm, for trips approximately 3 weeks ahead of time. Grab your tickets right away if you have a particular date you’d like!

We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

October 2, 2022

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports another week of good fishing! once again, on some days we were limited in where we could go because of the winds, but still had good numbers of porgies and seabass. We unfortunately lost our trip on Sunday due to the weather, and will lose Monday as well. We’re hoping for better weather soon!

We continue to fish every day, weather depending, so check our website for schedules and tickets. We do have some dates available for private charters during our weekday full day trips, so be sure to contact us if you’d like to set something up.

We continue to have bottom fishing trips every day except Mondays, when we’ll be bluefishing. As a reminder, we post new trips every Monday night at 8pm, for trips approximately 3 weeks ahead of time. Grab your tickets right away if you have a particular date you’d like!

September 25, 2022

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports a week of good fishing! Some days we were limited in where we could go because of the winds, but still had good numbers of porgies and seabass. We had a few special trips this week, including one of our favorites- our annual Vets trip with veterans from the Rocky Hill Veterans Home and the New England Saltwater Fishing Club. We had a great group of veterans and they had a blast fighting the big blues all night! They had some competition from the seals, though, who were chasing the bluefish right up to the boat! Check out our YouTube page for some videos!

We continue to fish every day, check our website for schedules and tickets. We do have some dates available for private charters during our weekday full day trips, so be sure to contact us if you’d like to set something up.

We continue to have bottom fishing trips every day except Mondays, when we’ll be bluefishing. Our After Work Special trips are just about done for the season- we look forward to running those again next year. As a reminder, we post new trips every Monday night at 8pm, for trips approximately 3 weeks ahead of time. Grab your tickets right away if you have a particular date you’d like!

We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

September 18, 2022

Heather from the Black Hawk reports more of the same…. another week of great fishing. Excellent porgy fishing most days, with lots of limits. Saturday was a little slower, with not quite as many fish, but still a good number of full coolers around the boat.

The bluefishing remains excellent- huge blues make for arm weary anglers! Our After Work Special trips are over for the year, we can’t wait to do them again next year!

September 11, 2022

Heather from the Black Hawk reports we had another week of excellent fishing.  Limits of jumbo porgies around the boat on our day trips, with some nice sized sea bass mixed in.  A few of our trips have been a real mixed bag- one trip last week showed pories, seabass, some fluke, a triggerfish or two, and even a winter flounder!   Our Afternoon bass and blues trips have been fantastic as well, with those monster blues still biting all night long.

We’d like to thank all of our customers and supporters, who have once again, for the 8th year in a row, voted us Connecticut’s Number One party boat in the “Best of the Best” contest.  We are humbled and honored to get this award, and truly thank everyone for their support.

September 4, 2022

Heather from the Black Hawk reports that September is here, and it was another week of great fishing!  With the start of the bonus season, the porgy fishing continues to be red hot, with loads of porgies coming over the rails all week long.  Again, with a decent mix of seabass and a few more triggers in the mix as well.  We are back in our fall schedule, with one trip daily, leaving at 6am (Tuesday-Sunday, Mondays are blues at 7am).

Our Friday After Work Trip again showed monster blues coming over the rails.  These trips are winding down, so if you want to grab a spot, be sure to do it soon!  We will be fishing for blues and bass on Mondays, leaving at 7am, for the remainder of September and into October.

We had a fantastic sunset cruise and seal watch on Saturday night, with a great crowd and lots of seals!  As always, these trips are part of our Black Hawk and the Community Program, with all proceeds going to local non-profit organizations. Thanks everyone for joining us!

August 28, 2022

Heather from the Black Hawk reports another week of excellent fishing!  The porgy fishing continues to be red hot, with limits of porgies coming over the rails all week long.  A good mix of seabass, and again some sea robins and triggerfish in the mix.

The fluke fishing was an improvement over last week, with some nice fish landing in the coolers.  September 1 is our last fluke trip of the season, so be sure to join us!

Our Thursday After Work Special was epic, with huge blues coming over the rails all night, leaving anglers arm weary and exhausted.  Friday night started off strong, but when the tide changed, the fishing went down to a slow pick.

We’re looking forward to the start of the bonus season.  After September 1, our trips will leave at 6am, so be sure to check the time when you purchase your tickets.  After Labor Day, Mondays will be bass and blues, leaving at 7am.

Special congrats go out to one of our crew, Luke, who just celebrated the arrival of his new son, Rhett, on Friday.  Both mom and baby are doing well, and big brother is especially excited!  Congrats to Luke and his family!

August 21, 2022

Heather from the Black Hawk office feels like these reports are on repeat- it’s another week of fantastic summer fishing.  The bottom fishing remains excellent, limits of porgies and nice seabass mixed in.  We had some triggerfish this week, as well as some sea robins in the mix.

This week’s fluke trip was better than last week, but still not as good as we’d hoped for.  Hopefully next week will be better- we only have two of these fluke trips left this season!

Our After Work Specials were fantastic, with loads of huge blues coming over the rails all night long. Our special charter on Wednesday night with a group of high school athletes from upstate New York were tired and sore after reeling in huge blues all night long!

As we get closer to the start of school, we’re starting to get ready for the bonus season.  Our trips change slightly in September, so be sure to check the times when you’re getting your tickets. Thanks for all of the school supplies for our school supply drive!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports more of the same- another week of great fishing.  The bottom fishing was excellent, limits of porgies and nice seabass mixed in.  A few sea robins here and there, and some triggerfish too to round out the coolers.  Our fluke trip wasn’t as good as in past weeks- we’ll tell you when it’s good, and we’ll be honest when it’s not- and this week just wasn’t that good.  Hopefully the next few weeks will be better!  The After Work Special trips started off strong, with huge blues coming over the rails at the start of the trips. With the strong tides due to the full moon changed, the fish slowed down to a pick for the remainder of the trip.

We’re looking forward to some great trips for the rest of the summer!  It’s hard to believe we’re starting to think about Back to School and the bonus fishing season.  Starting in September, our schedule will change slightly, so be sure to check the times when you’re getting your tickets.  Also, don’t forget to bring school supplies when you come on your trip for our school supply drive!
