Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we had another busy week of fishing! Memorial Day Monday was a great day, with loads of porgies and a good mix of weakfish too. Tuesday’s bass and blues trip was great, with plenty of action and lots of keeper bass coming over the rails all day long. Our fluke trip on Wednesday started off strong, then the strong wind, fast tides, and a swarm of sea robins made for fast drifts and hampered the catching. We continued to pick away at the shorts and keepers throughout the rest of the day. Our Friday porgy trip was great, with lots of porgies and again, some nice weakfish in the mix. Our After Work Special trip was fantastic, with a boat load of keepers in the slot limit. We’ll be running these trips on Friday afternoons, and hope to add in a few more trips on other days as well. The weekend was absolutely beautiful, perfect days to be out on the water.

We’re running two trips on Saturdays and Sundays now, 5am and 1pm. The weekends do sell out quickly, so be sure to grab your tickets when they’re posted! Weekday trips are posted based on our charter schedule. We’ll start fishing every day on June 17.

As a reminder, we post new trips every Monday night at 8pm, for trips approximately 3 weeks ahead of time. Grab your tickets right away if you have a particular date you’d like!

We’re booking private charters for July and August, so be sure to contact Heather and book your trip if you’d like a certain day. Stay tuned for some new trips coming up soon!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we had a busy week of fishing last week! Monday started off with one of our favorite trips of the year, our VIP (Visually Impaired Persons) trip with the Berlin Lions Club. We always have a great time fishing with such a great group! Our porgy trips during the week showed great fishing. One of our charters did so well with the porgies that they went and did some bass and blue fishing as well, which was also fantastic.

Our first After Work Special trip on Friday evening showed great fishing, with lots of keeper bass in the slot range, as well as some bigger fish that were released. We look forward to running these trips again this year! Our next one is Friday, June 3- space is limited on these trips so book soon! We’re adding a few days trips for bass and blues too- grab your spot today!

Our holiday weekend porgy trips showed beautiful weather and great fishing! Loads of porgies with a good mix of weakfish too. We loved welcoming several new families on board who had never fished with us before- welcome to the Black Hawk family!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that the week started off a little slow on Monday, when we had to fight with some strong tides early in the trip, but were able to find a nice pile of porgies and ended up with plenty to go around! Despite the less than ideal conditions on Thursday, our private charter had a great trip with good fishing, filling up coolers and having a blast! Friday was another good day, with lots of jumbo porgies coming over the rails. Saturday was more of the same, with absolutely beautiful weather, plenty of porgies, and some bonus weakfish in the mix as well.

Our squid trips on Thursday and Friday night showed solid fishing. Friday night was little tougher, but Saturday night was fantastic. An absolutely beautiful night, and full buckets all around the boat- who could ask for more?

We will be adding more squid trips as long as we can- it’s a short season, so as long as the weather and fishing allows, we’ll be heading out. Stay tuned for updated trips! Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we were able to get out on Wednesday, after the wind finally died down from earlier in the week. The fishing was a steady pick throughout the day. Friday, our private charter had better fishing, with full coolers and happy customers all around the boat. Saturday was tougher- the fish just didn’t want to cooperate, and the bright sunshine and loads of boats out enjoying the beautiful weather didn’t help. Those that stayed at the rail picked away at them.

We got out for squid on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Thursday and Friday were decent, with a steady pick coming over the rails, but not what we were hoping for. Saturday night was the best of the three, with everyone going home with a solid catch of squid. Check out the videos on Facebook and YouTube. We’ll be adding more trips soon, so stay tuned!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we had a pretty good week of fishing, especially considering what Mother Nature was trying to throw at us. Our squid trips on Sunday and Wednesday were decent, but not the lights out squid fishing we’re hoping for. It’ll get better, and we’ll have some more trips as soon as the weather allows.

Saturday’s trip was tough, due to the rain and wind that picked up as the day went on. Our awesome anglers still caught a decent number of porgies despite the conditions. Unfortunately, we had to cancel Sunday’s trip due to the high winds.

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we had a great first weekend of fishing! Our opening porgy trip was fantastic- lots of jumbo porgies flying over the rail and into the coolers!

Our first squid trip was Saturday night- it was a little inconsistent, but all the signs were there that it’ll just keep getting better and better. Some people had a bucket full, while others only had 10-12- but a good time was had by all! We’re heading out again on Sunday night and are looking forward to more of these trips in the coming weeks.

We have some openings for our trips this week on Wednesday and Friday. We’ll be fishing every weekend right now, and weekdays based on the weather and our charter schedule. Check the website for our schedule and to grab your tickets!

The old Black Hawk headed out last week to her new home in Toledo, Ohio- she’s got quite the trip ahead of her but she’ll be happy with her “retirement life” in the Great Lakes.

It’s made of aluminum, fast, and has a lot more space than our old boat! We can’t wait to welcome everyone on board soon!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports we had a great weekend at the New Jersey Saltwater Fishing Expo, where we got to see lots of great friends and met some new ones.  We’re looking forward to our last show, next weekend and close to home at the  Connecticut Fishing & Outdoor Show at Mohegan Sun casino.  Come see us there!
