Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we’re one week closer to the fishing season….we’re counting down the days!
We are amazed at the talented artists we have in our young people- we can’t wait to share the drawings we’ve received for our first kids coloring contest! Wait ’till you see some of these! Be sure to submit your child’s drawing for a chance to win a free trip for an adult and a child. We will accept entries for one more week before it’s time to vote.

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we had a great weekend in Philadelphia at the Philadelphia Fishing Show. It was great to see some old friends and meet some new ones too. We look forward to fishing with everyone soon!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that while we are done fishing, there’s still lots to do! The boat is currently in New York, getting some work done that we didn’t have time to complete when we bought it in the spring. In the meantime, we’ll be busy with our sports shows, Talkin’ Tackle, and some other surprises we’ve got in store.

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we ended our season on a high note- a few good trips last week! Tuesday wasn’t as good as we’d hoped, as the wind mixed everything up and it wasn’t quite back to what we’d expected. We had a decent showing of seabass, but nothing like what we’ve had lately. Wednesday’s private charter was excellent, with a full boat limit of jumbo seabass, with some porgies, cod, pollock and ling in the mix as well. Friday’s trip wasn’t as good as Wednesday’s, but still had good numbers of seabass coming over the rail.
That’s a wrap for us! As you probably saw in our Facbeook videos, we’re getting hauled in New York to get some work done that we didn’t have time to do last spring when we got this new boat. We will be sure to keep everyone updated and look forward to seeing you over the winter at a sports show or in the spring when we start up again!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports another short report this week- but a great one! Like last week, we headed out to Coxes Ledge again on Wednesday, and it was an epic trip. Limits of jumbo seabass all around the boat, a good mix of cod, some porgies, and some pollock in the mix as well. The seabass fishing was the best we’ve ever seen. It was without a doubt our best trip of the year. Flat clam seas, sunshine- simply an unbelievable trip for December.
This is our last week of trips for the season- stay tuned for a report.

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports a short report this week- but a good one! Due to Mother Nature, we only got out one day this week- but it was a great trip! We headed out to Coxes Ledge, and what a trip it was! Some customers would likely say it’s their best trip ever! The seabass catching was unbelievable, with double headers coming over the rails all day long. Plenty of codfish too, with lots of shorts and overs, but a good number of keepers. It was an epic trip and we can’t wait to do it again!
We’re hoping to get out as much as possible between now and the end of the year- all trips are based on the weather. Join us as soon if you can before the season is over!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that when we got out this week, the fishing was excellent! Monday’s last blackfish trip of the year had good numbers of fish- we couldn’t get out to Block Island due to the wind, so we stated local. Fishing was good, with some nice togs coming over the rails.
Friday was a beautiful day, unbelievable for early December, really- and the fishing was nothing short of spectacular. Limits of seabass, huge porgies, cod, and pollock in the mix. One of the best days of the year for sure! We lost Saturday due to the wind, but Sunday once again showed great fishing. The morning had some leftover wind from Saturday’s storm, but the wind dropped out and the fishing was excellent.

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports a short report this week! Due to Mother Nature and her wind again, and the Thanksgiving holiday, we only got out two days last week. Both days showed fantastic fishing, with full boat limits of jumbo seabass, a good mix of cod, and some nice blackfish as well. Simply sensational fishing.

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports….well, there’s not much to report! Thanks to Mother Nature and her wind, we only got out on Sunday and Tuesday last week. Tuesday had great fishing, with a boat limit of jumbo seabass, gerat numbers of big tog, and a good showing of codfish as well. Even a few porgies to fill up the spaces in the coolers! Unfortunately, we had to cancel the other trips for the week due to the windy conditions. We look forward to getting out there this week!
We’ll be doing combo trips this week, until blackfish closes next Monday. After that, we will continue to fish as often as possible, as long as the weather allows. Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that even though it felt like summer temperatures some days, it’s definitely time for fall fishing! Our combo trips continue, where we spend part of the day blackfishing and the other part bottom fishing. Some days this week we had some wind to contend with, making the conditions more difficult and impacting the fishing. However, most days still had great fishing! We had good numbers of blackfish most days, and had a good showing of cod. Friday had cod coming up all over the boat- we hope this continues! Limits of seabass, and still good numbers of jumbo porgies around. Now’s the time to fill the freezer!
We’ll be doing combo trips Monday through Friday now as we continue the season. We’ll do bottom fishing on the weekends. We continue to fish every day, weather depending, so check our website for schedules and tickets. Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that it was another week of mixed fall fishing on the Black Hawk. Our combo trips are in full swing, and we’re spending part of the day blackfishing and the other part on the bottom fishing grounds. Blackfishing was up and down, with some days better than others. Some days were fantastic, with fish to 13 pounds! Other days were a bit slower. The bottom fishing was fantastic, with loads of porgies, huge seabass, and a good mix of cod on some trips too. Overall, a good week of fall fishing!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that it was another week of mixed fall fishing on the Black Hawk. We ended up starting our combo trips a bit early, and on our bottom fishing trips we spent part of the time doing some blackfishing. Our blackfish only trips were pretty good, with Thursday better than Tuesday. We had some nice togs to around 10 pounds on Thursday!
Our bluefish and striped bass trips are done for the season. Thanks to all who joined us on these trips, we look forward to them again next year!
Special congrats go out to Capt. Matt and his wife Alex, who welcomed baby Benjamin into the world last week. Everyone is doing well, and we expect that little Ben will be out on the boat before we know it!
