December 28, 2025

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we headed out on Sunday after the snowstorm for our last trip of the season, and it was a beautiful late December day on the water. The seabass have their bags packed and are ready to move out , but we still had a nice showing to put in the coolers. Some ling to round out the mix, and cod that we released unharmed. Not a bad way to wrap up the season!

December 21, 2025

Heather from the Black Hawk reports that while we only made it out one day last week, it was a nice day out on the water! Plenty of good sized seabass, with many customers getting their limit. Still some jumbo scup around too! Plenty of ling and bergals to fill up the coolers too. We even had a few pollock and some cod, which were released unharmed. Overall, a beautiful mid-December day on the water.

We’re hoping to get at least one more trip in after Christmas, so hopefully Mother Nature cooperates.

From our Black Hawk family to yours, we’d like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!

December 14, 2025

Heather from the Black Hawk reports that we only made it out two days last week, but they were well worth it! Sunday was a great day on the water, and we did what we know how to do this time of year! It was drop and reel all day, with keeper seabass to 5+ pounds, producing an easy boat limit. We had some of the largest scup we’ve seen since the summer, along with a few pollock, some bergals, and ling. We had several cod, all released unharmed due to the federal closure of the cod season. Tuesday was another absolutely beautiful day on the water- cold, as to be expected in December, but plenty of seabass, with a nice mix of jumbo-sized porgies, ling, bergal, and whiting to fill up the coolers.

We only have a few days left of the season- when the weather cooperates, get out there and join us! A reminder to get your tickets ahead of time so we can contact you in case of any weather related concerns.

We still have gift certificates available for holiday gifts- give the office a call and we can get one out to you! Also, as always, a reminder for this holiday season to shop in your local community- don’t forget to support the local tackle shops, toy stores, book stores, restaurants and other places that support your local community!

December 7, 2025

Heather from the Black Hawk reports that when we were able to get out, we saw some good fishing! On Wednesday, the hungry, angry jumbo seabass couldn’t stay away as we produced a boat limit. We also had a really nice showing of scup as well! Plenty of ling and bergals to fill in the cracks! Friday was even better, and was easily one of the top 3 nicest December days we’ve ever seen on the Black Hawk! The morning temperatures were chilly, but it is December! The XL seabass were waiting for us, and we made quick work of a full boat limit. Most anglers were even releasing keeper sized fish to keep the jumbos! Saturday showed lots of ling, with seabass and even a few porgies in the mix.

A reminder that trips this time of year are very weather dependent, so you want to get your tickets ahead of time so we can contact you in case of any weather related concerns. We are hoping to get out there a few more times before the season ends, so grab your tickets and join us!

November 30, 2025

Heather from the Black Hawk office hopes everyone had a nice Thanksgiving! We have so much to be thankful for, including our wonderful customers and friends who make up the Black Hawk family. As for the fishing, we were able to get out early in the week before being tied to the dock for the majority of the holiday week. Monday and Tuesday were good trips for seabass, with a boat limit each day. We also had some good keeper blackfish both days, despite having to work around the weather. We also had plenty of ling, bergals and some cod that were released unharmed.

November 23, 2025

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports some up and down fishing this week. We lost the early part of the week due to the weather, which is to be expected this time of year. However, once we started up midweek, we had some great fishing for a few days! Wednesday and Thursday showed excellent fishing, with limits of seabass, and a nice mix of blackfish as well. Some of the regulars had their limit of togs. Some porgies in the mix, and even a trigger fish! We are seeing some cod as well, which are all released as the fishery is closed this year. Later in the week, the fishing was a bit tougher, with Saturday a tough day out on the water. We stayed late and put in the overtime, but it still was one of our tougher fall trips. It looks like we’ll still have some nice days before Thanksgiving and the closure of the blackfish season, so come join us!

A reminder that trips this time of year are very weather dependent, so you want to get your tickets ahead of time so we can contact you in case of any weather related concerns.

Also a reminder that we will have our annual “Small Business Saturday” gift certificate sale on November 29.
