Heather from the Black Hawk office reports Mother Nature messed with us a bit on Thursday, but other than that it was a great week! Beautiful weather, limits of porgies, jumbo seabass- a great week of summer fishing!

Thursday’s day trip was cancelled due to the windy conditions, but the afternoon private charter went out and loaded up with the bluefish- as much as anyone wanted, and a load to donate to the local food bank as well!

Friday and Saturday showed excellent fishing. Saturday afternoon’s family trip was fantastic, an absolutely beautiful day before the storm is scheduled to arrive.

At the time of this writing, Hurricane Henri is heading this way, so we will see what happens after the storm passes.

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that once again, we had a great week fishing! Most days had most people getting their limit of porgies. Seabass was a little slower early in the week, but then picked up later in the week, making for excellent fishing.

We had some great private charters this week, with a good mix of blues, seabass and porgies on several. Our private charter dates are just about sold out, but contact Heather if you’re interested in getting your date on the calendar.

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that things are one repeat- it was another week of fantastic fishing! Limits of jumbo poriges, huge seabass, and a good mix of fluke filling the coolers on our day trips.

Thursday’s fluke/seabss trip was hampered by the weather- while we had good numbers of seabass, the fluke fishing wasn’t as good due to the conditions.

Our Friday afternoon “After Work Special” trip showed awesome bluefishing- as many of the monster sized blues as you could ask for! A great night out on the water!

Our “Take A Kid Fishing” trips started this week. We had a great group of kids and their families out on Saturday afternoon- everyone had a great time catching porgies and seabass. We’re looking forward to more of these trips- we’re doing them every Saturday afternoon in August!

Our Thursday fluke and seabass trip was fantastic- doormat fluke filled the boat. As good as the fluke fishing was, the seabass fishing was even better! A full boat limit of jumbo seabass! Just a great day out on the water!

Friday’s trip had some wind to contend with, so while the porgy fishing was great, we weren’t able to get as many seabass as we’d hoped.

Our fluke and seabass trip had to pick through some short fish to get to the keepers, but had a good number of fluke and seabass on board. Simply a beautiful day!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports a week of good fishing! Monday’s holiday crew saw excellent porgy fishing, and a good number of seabass before the jumbo porgies took over and made it tough to get through to the seabass. Tuesday’s wind forced us to fish in alternate locations, where the seabass fishing wasn’t quite as good and we had to work for the porgies. Those who did still managed to get a good number for the coolers. Thursday’s fluke and seabass trip was fantastic, with some nice sized fluke and seabass. These trips are very popular and fill up quickly so be sure to grab your tickets early! Unfortunately, we lost both of our trips on Friday due to the storm. Saturday’s trip was a little slower as the water was churned up from the storm, but by the afternoon it was already a bit better. We’re looking forward to a great week.

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that the week started off with a little bit of a pick early in the week, but improved as the week went on.  Later in the week, the porgy fishing picked up and was red hot. As for the seabass, we had to pick through some shorts but it just keeps getting better.  We had a special charter with a group of kids on Wednesday afternoon, and they had a blast catching the porgies and seabass.  We love having kids on board with us, and are looking forward to some of our special family/kid trips this summer!  Stay tuned for dates!

Our first night bass trips of the season showed great fishing!  Some big fish and shorts were released, and we had some within the slot limit to keep.  We’ll have a few more of these trips as the season goes on- they fill up quickly so be sure to grab your spots as soon as you see them!

Our After Work Special on Friday was tough-  neither the bass or the blues wanted to cooperate which made for a rough trip. As a result we made some changes to the game plan and did some bottom fishing to keep the rods bending and put some quality scup and sea bass on ice for everyone.

The holiday weekend had us fishing in some alternate locations due to the weather, but we were still able to load up on the scup with some nice seabass as well.

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports another week of great fishing! The week started off a little slow, with a leftover swell and some thick fog. Wednesday’s opening day of seabass had us picking through the shorts to get the keepers, but still ended up with a good number of seabass. The rest of the week was the same. The seabass fishing will get better and better as the season goes on, so we’re looking forward to some great trips! Excellent porgy fishing on the trips, too, making for some full coolers and happy customers!

Friday’s After Work Special showed great bluefishing, and a good number of striped bass in the mix as well! We’ve added more of these trips for the next few Fridays, so be sure to grab your spot before they fill up!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that the porgy fishing has picked up in the last few days! The week started off with some slower fishing- more of a pick, where those who stayed at the rail had good results, but it wasn’t what we were hoping for. A good mix of weakfish in with the porgies, but we were waiting for the real hit of porgies to come in. Thursday evening’s private charter with a group of middle schoolers was good, with lots of action and happy kids! Then, on Friday, the porgies were here! By the weekend, it was limits all around the boat. Simply fantastic fishing! Beautiful weather, great fishing, who could ask for more?

Capt. Greg from the Black Hawk reports that after the storm on Memorial Day weekend, the holiday itself was a good day, with a full boat limit of weakfish, and a good number of porgies mixed in.  The porgy fishing wasn’t quite where it left off before the storm, but we’re hoping that will improve.

Our fluke trip was hampered by wind and rain, and we had to fish in secondary locations, so the bite wasn’t quite what we had hoped.  We’re hoping to add another fluke trip or two before we start our full sailing schedule, so stay tuned.

The weekend showed beautiful weather- it seems like summer is here!  We fished to the west- still in New York waters, where, unfortunately, the seabass season is still closed.  It’s upsetting to see so many smaller boats, and even some of the party/charter boats, keeping seabass when it’s illegal to do so in NY waters right now.  We had some beautiful seabass this weekend, all of which were returned to the water.  The season opens soon, and we’ll be ready when it does.  In the meantime, let’s hope everyone follows the regulations and keeps only what is legal.

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports an interesting week of fishing! Monday was lights out porgy fishing, with limits of jumbo porgies all around the boat. Just two days later, though, on Wednesday, we had a beautiful day- and not a porgy to be found. Then Friday, we had a great showing of porgies and a full boat limit of weakfish. Unfortunately, due to the weather, we lost both Saturday and Sunday of the holiday weekend.

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports another week of great fishing! Last Sunday’s porgy trip was excellent, with some weakfish in the mix as well. Wednesday’s trip was fantastic, with limits of porgies, a good mix of weakfish, and even some bluefish. Thursday’s fluke trip had to pick through lots of shorts, but those who did were rewarded with some beautiful keeper fluke. This was the first of the fluke trips we hope to run this year. Saturday’s bottom fishing trip once again showed a good number of weakfish mixed in with the porgies.

Sunday night’s squid trip was again spectacular, with the squid biting in the daylight hours and right through the night. Wednesday wasn’t quite as good, although we still had a decent number of squid on the boat. We do hope to add a few more trips before the season is over. Heather from the Black Hawk office reports a great week of fishing! Tuesday’s porgy trip was a pit of a pick, and we had to work a little harder at it, but there was still plenty of quality fish caught. By Wednesday, the bite picked back up and we were catching jumbo sized scup all day long. A few weakfish in the mix, and a few bluefish too! Thursday’s private charter was fantastic, with loads of porgies, a few blues, and some weakfish. By Friday, it was beautiful weather and excellent fishing, with loads of porgies coming over the rails! Saturday had a full boat limit of porgies, again with weakfish in the mix.

The squid fishing was nothing short of spectacular. Wednesday’s trip was incredible, with the squid biting before it even got dark, and continuing all night, making for full buckets and coolers all around. We didn’t think it could get any better….until it did on Friday! It was, simply put, the best squid fishing we’ve seen. Again, starting in the daylight and continuing for the entire trip. Simply phenomenal fishing. We hope to add a few more squid trips, based on the weather, in the coming week. Stay tuned, these trips sell out in minutes!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports a great week of fishing! We started our “Calamari Safari” squid trips- and what trips they were! Anglers loaded up on the squid, filling buckets and coolers! Simply fantastic fishing all around! Our porgy trips showed some good early season action as well! Wednesday’s rainy drizzle didn’t stop our desiccated anglers from loading up on limits of jumbo scup. Friday’s trip was more of the same, with nicer weather and great fishing. Some nice weakfish mixed in with the porgies made for an added bonus.

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we headed out for a cod trip on Sunday. It was a beautiful spring day, but the fishing wasn’t quite what we had hoped. All the recent wind blew in the dogfish, and while we did get some nice cod, we were hampered by the dogfish and had to pick away at the cod.

We are anxiously awaiting the start of our season! Our first porgy trip of the year will be May 1 at 5am. Squid trips will be posted as soon as possible, once we know the squid are in.
