January 9, 2022

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we stayed tied to the dock this week, a combination of windy weather and less than ideal fishing. You know us, we’re honest about our reports and trips- and we don’t want to take you out just for a boat ride (unless, of course, you’re looking for a sunset cruise or seal watch- then come join us!). That being said, we don’t like to take people out on these cold winter trips if we don’t think the fishing will be worth it- and right now, it doesn’t seem to be worth it! We look forward to getting out there soon when the weather and fish cooperate!

Our trips will be posted based as they become available- be sure to check the website for updates and tickets. As always, be sure to check our Facebook page for reports and updates.

January 2, 2022

Heather from the Black Hawk office hopes that everyone had a Happy New Year! We were able to get out just before New Year’s eve, and had a steady pick of sea bass at Block Island until the scup swarmed in and took over the bite. With the hungry porgies came the short sea bass which slowed the filling of the coolers for keepers. It looks like the porgies are planning on sticking around so starting in January we should have a nice addition of scup to the cod trips. From here on out our trips will be weather based as we pick the best days to get out and load up the coolers! Thank you all again for an amazing 2021 season and we look forward to seeing you in January of ’22! As always, be sure to check our Facebook page for daily reports and updates.

On behalf of the entire Black Hawk crew, we wish everyone a very Happy & Healthy 2022!

December 26, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office hopes that everyone had a Merry Christmas! We were only able to get out one day last week due to the weather- but what a day it was!

We had a full boat limit of huge sea bass, more than enough jumbo pogies and a solid catch of cod! It was lock and load action all day in picture perfect weather! What a great December day!

We’ll have a few trips this week, including our special seal watch on Monday, where all proceeds are going to the victims of the Kentucky tornadoes.

After the first of the year, our trips will be posted based on the weather- be sure to check the website for updates and tickets. As always, be sure to check our Facebook page for daily reports and updates.

December 19, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we lost last weekend due to the windy conditions, but were able to get out for back-to-back trips Tuesday and Wednesday- and what fabulous trips they were! Tuesday was solid catching on the seabass and scup grounds with piles of fish flying over the rails all day! After loading up the coolers with boat limits of sea bass and scup we headed out to the deeper water to search for cod fish. We were able to pick up a few nice fish and we are looking forward to dialing in on the cod as the season progresses. Wednesday was a Black Hawk bottom fishing blitz! From the first drop we had double header jumbo sea bass flying over the rails- to say our awesome anglers made short work of a full boat limit is an understatement! It was without a doubt the best sea bass catching of the year! We had a bunch of quality cod put on ice as well, including our first double header keeper of the season! We rounded out the coolers with plenty of jumbo scup to go around. Saturday’s trip was a steady pick of sea bass and porgies all day with a few cod mixed in as well to round out the coolers!

Our trips continue to be by reservation only at this time. As always, tickets will be available to purchase on our website on Monday evenings at 8:00 pm. December 12, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we fished a few days last week, when we could get out with the weather, and had some excellent seabass fishing! Limits of jumbo seabass all around the boat, with a surprising number of porgies still in the mix. Some cod in there as well, along with some blackfish that were returned since the season is closed. Overall, excellent fishing for early December!

We will continue to fish as much as we can, weather permitting. Don’t forget, all trips are by reservation at this time, so be sure to book ahead of time.

December 5, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that once again, we lost quite a few days last week due to the windy conditions, but when we got out, the fishing was fantastic! Full boat limits of seabass, and some cod in the mix as well. Now that blackfish is closed, we’ll be going after more codfish as the season progresses.

We will continue to fish as much as we can, weather permitting. Don’t forget, all trips are by reservation at this time, so be sure to book ahead of time.

November 28, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we lost quite a few days last week due to the windy conditions, but when we got out, the fishing was fantastic! Loads of seabass, a good number of blackfish on our combo trips, and even a few cod in the mix as well. The blackfish season is now closed, but we are already looking forward to more of these combo trips next year!

We will continue to fish as much as we can, weather permitting. Don’t forget, all trips are by reservation at this time, so be sure to book ahead of time.

November 21, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we ended up staying local and doing some blackfishing on many of our trips this week when we couldn’t get out to Block Island due to the wind.  We had to pick through the shorts on some of the trips, but overall had plenty of keepers.

When we could get out to Block Island, the fishing was excellent.  Limits of jumbo sea bass, loads of porgies, and some cod mixed in too- fantastic fall fishing.  We’re looking forward to fishing as much as the weather allows.

Don’t forget, all trips are by reservation at this time, so be sure to book ahead of time.

November 14, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we had a great week of fishing! Mother Nature coopered and we got out every day during the week except Friday, and had some great fishing all week long! Loads of jumbo seabass- we had full boat limits more than once- with lots of porgies and a good number of cod mixed in as well. Our combo trips also showed excellent fishing, with limits of blackfish in addition to the porgies and seabass. Overall, just a sensational week of fall fishing!

Mother Nature didn’t cooperate as much on Saturday, and we were hampered by a lingering swell and some leftover wind. The fishing was still good, but not like earlier in the week.

We’re planning on getting out there every day, as long as the weather allows. Don’t forget, all trips are by reservation at this time, so be sure to book ahead of time.

November 7, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that one week makes all the difference! We had a great week of fishing- some beautiful November days! Monday wasn’t the nicest day, but everyone put in the time and we had a good number of cod on the boat, as well as plenty of porgies and seabass. The seabass fishing for the rest of the week was simply sensational- huge seabass, and lots of them! Thursday’s trip was fantastic, with a full boat limit of seabass, as well as a bunch of cod and porgies. The blackfishing on our combo trips was a little slower, but the excellent seabass fishing made up for it!

We’re planning on getting out there every day, as long as the weather allows. Don’t forget, all trips are by reservation at this time, so be sure to book ahead of time.

October 31, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that once again, Mother Nature didn’t cooperate last week. We lost the whole week due to the windy conditions and rough seas. Sunday, we switched it up and headed out for a blackfish trip. As of this writing, there was a good number of blackfish on board.

We’re looking forward to a great week and getting back out there. We’ll have our “blackfish/bottom fishing” combo trips, as wel as our bottom fishing trips.

As always, be sure to check our Facebook page for daily reports and updates.

October 24, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that Mother Nature didn’t cooperate much last week. We lost Monday and Tuesday due to the wind, and changed our Wednesday trip to a blackfish trip after the wind changed our plans and we wouldn’t be able to get to Block Island. The blackfishing was a bit of a slow pick, but we were still able to get some nice togs for the coolers. Thursday we were able to get back out to Block Island, and saw excellent fishing, with limits of seabass all over the boat, piles of porgies, and a few cod mixed in. We lost Friday, but headed back out Saturday and had a great day of fall fishing! More limits of seabass, loads of porgies, and a good number of cod. Seeing cod on each of these trips makes us look forward to a great cod season!

This week looks questionable with the weather again- as you know, this time of year is all about the weather. We’ll get out as often as possible when the weather allows. We’re also planning to do our “blackfish/bottom fishing” combo trips – always a good time! We’ll be adding some more of these trips on Monday night- these fill up fast, so be sure to grab your tickets as soon as you see them online.

October 17, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that after being stuck at the dock for a few days last weekend, Tuesday was a solid day at Block Island. The catching was a little slower than we left it as the wind churned up the bottom, but still had some quality sea bass and scup with a few keeper cod as well. Wednesday took some work but we left Block Island with full coolers and limits of jumbo scup and sea bass! We had to put in some overtime to get it done but it was such a beautiful day- who wouldn’t want to be out on the water a little longer? Thursday and Friday were more of the same, with loads of porgies and seabass, and a good shot of cod coming over the rails as well. Saturday was a bit windy, which slowed down the catching a bit. We still ended up with good results, but not what we had the past few days.

As usual, this time of year is all about the weather.  We’re looking forward to better weather and more good fishing as the fall progresses.  We’re looking forward to our first “blackfish/bottom fishing” combo trips next week.  We’ll be adding some more of these trips on Monday night- these fill up fast, so be sure to grab your tickets as soon as you see them online.

October 10, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports a good week of fall fishing! Monday’s wet weather didn’t stop the fish, and our dedicated anglers filled the coolers with porgies and seabass. The rest of the week was good, although we had some strong tides to contend with and couldn’t always fish where we wanted. Friday’s group wanted to do some bluefishing, and it didn’t disappoint- blues, striped bass and seabass were coming over the rails all day long. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate for the holiday weekend. We got Saturday’s trip in, but the windy conditions made it difficult to get where we wanted to fish. While we still put in the effort and had fish on the boat, it wasn’t what we’ve been accustomed to in previous weeks. We lost both Sunday and Monday due to the windy conditions.

As usual, this time of year is all about the weather. We’re looking forward to better weather and more good fishing as the fall progresses. We’ll be adding some of our popular “blackfish/bottom fishing” combo trips- these fill up fast, so be sure to grab your tickets as soon as you see them online. The first two trips will be Tuesday, October 26 and Thursday, October 28. These trips leave at 5am and return at 5pm.

October 3, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports another week of great fishing.  Although we were somewhat limited by the wind on some days, we still had a week of solid fishing with loads of porgies, jumbo seabass, and even some triggerfish in the mix.  Our combo trips, where we spent part of the day bluefishing and part bottom fishing, were also  very successful, with arm weary anglers catching their fill of bluefish.   We look forward to more good fishing as the fall progresses

September 26, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that now is the time for some great fall fishing! We had a great week of fishing- limits of porgies, loads of jumbo seabass, and as many bluefish as you could want on our combo trips. We have a few more combo trips coming up, so grab your spots before they’re sold out!

Much like last week, on a few trips we had some weather and wind to contend with, so we fished in some secondary locations. These trips still showed a good number of fish to throw in the the coolers. As always, at this time of year the weather can become a factor on our trips. Working with Mother Nature can be tough!

As always, be sure to check our Facebook page for daily reports and updates.

September 19, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports another week of great fishing! We had a wonderful time on our annual veterans fishing trip. It’s one of our favorite nights of the year, and we’re honored to take these veterans out fishing every year.

The rest of the week showed good fishing, both blues and bottom fishing. Some trips were combo trips, where we spent part of the trip bluefishing and part of the trip bottom fishing. Even though we had some wind to contend with on some of the days, we fished in some secondary locations and were able to fill the coolers with quality fish.

Due to popular demand, we have added more of these bluefish/combo trips to our schedule- Wednesday, September 22, Tuesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 30. Grab your spots now before we’re sold out!

September 12, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we had a great day of fishing on Labor Day last week- limits of scup and seabass, and some nice triggerfish in the mix as well!  A great trip for the unofficial end of summer!  On Tuesday, we were happy to once again be a part of the Hometown Foundation’s “Fish for a Cure” tournament.  We joined the rest of the boats in the fleet and headed out for an afternoon of good fishing and great company, all while helping to raise money for a great cause.

Wednesday had less than ideal conditions, but still a good day on the water.  Our morning trip showed good bottom fishing, and our afternoon private charter had as many big bluefish as they wanted!  We lost Thursday due to the weather, and Friday was a bit slower than we hoped for, after the windy conditions on Thursday.  Friday afternoon’s After Work Special trip was simply phenomenal, with huge blues coming over the rails all night long.  A local seal provided some entertainment as well, as he chased the blues all around the boat!

Due to popular demand, we will be adding some bluefish/combo trips in the coming weeks- be sure to check our website for updates.

September 5, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that the last week of summer provided some more excellent fishing!  Early in the week everything was on repeat as we had limits of porgies and seabass on just about every trip- beautiful summer weather and great fishing!  Wednesday was the opening of the bonus season, and while the weather didn’t cooperate, the fish did and we had a great trip!  We lost Thursday’s trip due to the windy conditions, and Friday had some leftover wind and weather to contend with as well.  As a result, Friday wasn’t quite as good as earlier in the week.  Friday night, on our After Work Special, showed simply sensational bluefishing, with huge blues coming over the rails all night long.

The holiday weekend was off to a great start on Saturday, with limits of poriges and seabass all around the boat.  We’re looking forward to a great fall season!

August 29, 2021

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that thankfully, Hurricane Henri wasn’t nearly the storm they were calling for. While we did lose last Sunday and Monday, we were able to get back out on Tuesday for the bottom fishing action. Tuesday was a little on the slower side as the waters calmed down after the storm, but we did put some nice fish in the boat, including some nice triggerfish! By Wednesday, things had picked up and the fishing was excellent.

Thursday’s fluke and seabass trip was tough. You know us- we’ll give you the honest report, good or bad- and Thursday was a rough day. The fish just didn’t want to cooperate, making for a slow grind with not many fish to take home.

By Friday, things had improved and we were able to get out there with good numbers of porgies and seabass. Saturday was more of the same.

Our afternoon trips, both private charters and after work specials, showed excellent bluefishing, with loads of big blues. Lots of action made for good trips!

Our schedule changes on September 1, with only one trip on the weekends moving forward. These trips fill up fast, so grab your spots as soon as you see them posted online!
