December 17, 2023

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that after the excellent fishing we’ve had on recent trips, we were curious about what to expect after the big storm system last weekend. However, when we got back out to the fishing grounds we were surprised and happy to see the fish were still there waiting for us!! Many anglers had limits of seabass or close to it. The jumbo scup made for a solid showing for this time of year and everyone went home with a nice mixed bag of fish. On Saturday, we headed out to Coxes Ledge today and it didn’t disappoint! We had a solid catch of quality seabass. Some jumbo scup, ling and bergals were there too to top off the coolers. There were a couple of keeper cod in the mix as well. A beautiful day for mid-December! Unfortunately, Mother Nature is bringing us another storm over the next few days, but we’ll be heading back out as soon as we can.

As most of you probably know, we’ll be finishing up the season just after Christmas, so we can head back to the shipyard for another winter project. Join us while you can before we’re done for the season!

We still have gift certificates available as well, they make great gifts! We look forward to seeing everyone for our last few weeks of trips!

December 10, 2023

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that when we got out, the fishing was excellent! LImits of seabass on many trips, with a nice mix of cod on some trips. Friday was the trip of the winter, with an easy boat limit of seabass. The seabass fishing was so good we couldn’t get through to the cod! There were some caught, but the seabass fishing was just unbelievable. Some scup and bergals rounded out the coolers. Saturday the seabass bite was a little off due to the impending storm, but it was the best cod showing we’ve seen all season. A few pollock were an added bonus! We’re looking forward to the next few weeks!

We will continue to fish through December, weather permitting. Be sure to grab your tickets and join us! We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

December 3, 2023

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that there’s not much to report this week! Unfortunately, we ended up tied to the dock most of the week due to the windy conditions. We did get out last Sunday, and although the trip was a little slow to start, the seabass were there once we started drifting. We had quite a few shorts to get through, but the keepers were well worth it! Most anglers got to their limit. There was a nice showing of scup mixed in as well. A couple keeper cod with a couple shorts too. After a week of being tied to the dock, on Saturday we took the ride to Coxes Ledge where the quality seabass were ready to chew. We had some limits produced, and many anglers were close. Some nice scup, ling and jumbo bergals mixed in too. Everyone went home with a nice catch. Overall, a beautiful day weather wise for December.

We will continue to fish through December, weather permitting. Be sure to grab your tickets and join us! We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

November 26, 2023

Heather from the Black Hawk office, and the entire Black Hawk crew, hope that everyone had a nice Thanksgiving!

We were fortunate to get in several trips this week. Early in the week, the seabass fishing wasn’t quite as good as it had been- those who stuck it out at the rails had some nice fish, but it wasn’t the lights out fishing we had been used to. The blackfishing was good, with nice numbers of big tog coming up around the boat.

After the storm on Wednesday and a break on Thursday for Thanksgiving, we didn’t quite know what to expect. However, the seabass were there waiting for us, and we had excellent fishing on both Friday and Saturday. Limits of seabass around the boat, some nice cod mixed in, and we have had some scup to fill in the coolers. We had some beautiful blackfish for those who knew how to catch ’em, an added bonus before the season closes.

Thanks to all who participated in our annual Small Business Saturday gift certificate sale. We appreciate your support! As always, we encourage you to shop small and local, especially during the holiday season.

We will continue to fish through December, weather permitting. Be sure to grab your tickets and join us!

November 19, 2023

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that the seabass were the story of the week this week! While we didn’t get out every day, when we did, the seabass were there waiting for us. We had a full boat limit of beautiful seabass every day, along with some porgies that are still hanging around, and a nice mix of cod to round out the coolers. Overall, a fantastic week of fishing.

The entire Black Hawk family and crew wishes your family a very Happy Thanksgiving. We are thankful for all of our wonderful customers, and those who have turned into friends and family, for allowing us to continue to do what we love. Thanks for your continued support year after year. After turkey day, don’t forget our annual Small Business Saturday gift certificate sale. As always, we encourage you to shop small and local, especially during the holiday season.

We will continue to fish through December, weather permitting. Be sure to grab your tickets and join us!

November 12, 2023

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we were tied to the dock for a few days due to the wind, but were able to get back out for the Veterans Day weekend. First and foremost, thank you to all the veterans who have served- we greatly appreciate it and thank you so very much for your service. Our Friday trip was good, limits of porgies and seabass coming over the rails. Saturday wasn’t quite as good, but those who stuck it out were able to get some nice fish in the cooler. Sunday’s trip was much better, with some nice cod in the mix with the porgies and seabass.

As a reminder, our weekday trips are now combo trips, targeting blackfish and porgies/seabass on the same trip. Our regular bottom fishing trips, heading out on Saturdays and Sundays, are for porgies and seabass.

We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

November 5, 2023

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we’ve had some nice blackfish over the past week, with some close to 11 pounds! Congrats to several of our anglers who had personal bests this week with some nice togs!

On the bottom fishing part of our trips, we are still seeing good action on the porgies. The seabass fishing had some days better than others, but overall good numbers of quality fish. A few cod showing up to top off the coolers as well!

As a reminder, our weekday trips are now combo trips, targeting blackfish and porgies/seabass on the same trip. Our regular bottom fishing trips, heading out on Saturdays and Sundays, are for porgies and seabass.

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone soon for some fall fishing!

October 29, 2023

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that our final bass and blues trip of the season was excellent, with nice blues coming over the rails- the ones we could keep from the seals, that is! We look forward to more of these trips next season!

For the remainder of the season, we’ll be bottom fishing and doing our combo trips. The combo trips target blackfish and porgies/seabass on the same trip. Our regular bottom fishing trips, heading out on Saturdays and Sundays, are for porgies and seabass. We’ve had a few cod mixed in, which is getting us excited for the remainder of the season!

The bottom fishing trips this week were up and down- some days were better than others. We did have some nice blackfish to 11 pounds on our blackfish trip, and some nice seabass on our bottom fishing trips. Overall, it wasn’t the fall fishing we’ve come to expect- but we’re hoping that with the fall weather finally heading our way, the fishing will get back to what we’re used to.

We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

October 22, 2023

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that our bass and blues trip was once again very productive, with huge blues all day long. Our bottom fishing trips were a bit slower, as we had weather, strong tides, and some wind to contend with some of the days. This made for a few difficult days, days, making for a difficult day. However, those that stuck it out at the rails reaped the rewards and took home plenty of scup and some nice sea bass. We are looking forward to getting back out on the grounds with better conditions and back to filling up the coolers with piles of fish!

We are looking forward to our popular combo trips, where we’ll be targeting blackfish, porgies and seabass on the same trip. These trips fill up quickly, so be sure to grab your tickets when you see them online. We look forward to seeing everyone soon for some great fall fishing!

October 15, 2023

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports a good week of fall fishing! Our bass and blues trips were again fantastic, with huge blues coming over the rails all day long. Our bottom fishing trips showed an improvement in the sea bass and porgy, with some big seabass going into the coolers. We even had some nice blackfish mixed in on some of these trips! It’s looking like it will be a great fall season!

We continue to post trips every Monday night at 8pm, so be sure to grab your tickets when you see your trip posted. We’ll be starting our popular “combo trips” next week, where we spend part of the day blackfishing and the other part bottom fishing. Be sure to join us on one of these popular trips!

We look forward to seeing everyone soon for some great fall fishing!

October 8, 2023

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that our week started off less than spectacular, with the fishing still slower than we would have liked. Those who stuck it out had some nice porgies and seabass to put in the coolers, but nothing like we’d expect at this time of year. By the middle of the week, things had picked up a bit and we had a couple of good trips with some especially nice seabass coming over the rails. Unfortunately, we lost Sunday’s trip due to the wind. Hopefully this week will be back to normal!

It’s fall fishing time- that means lots of choices available for trips! Join us for a bass and blues trip, a blackfish trip, bottom fishing for porgies and seabass, or a combo blackfish/bottom fishing. Lots of choices available, you can get tickets on our website. Come join us!

October 1, 2023

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that Mother Nature was a difficult partner this week, causing us to cancel some trips and others to not be what we’d like for this time of year. Our bottom fishing trips had less than ideal conditions for most days, and while those who stuck it out at the rail had some nice porgies and seabass to show for it, overall the trips were not what we would like to see. Our bluefish trip was the opposite, with loads of nice blues hitting the diamond jigs all day long. We’ll continue to do these trips once or twice a week as long as we can, so be sure to grab your spot and join us!

As we move toward more fall fishing, we’ll be getting ready for some blackfish trips, as well as our popular blackfish/bottom fishing combo trips. Stay tuned and they’ll be posted soon!

We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

September 24, 2023

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that it was quite the week on the Black Hawk! We lost a few days due to some windy conditions early in the week, had some great trips mid-week with a fantastic private charter as well, and then had our adventure of the week when the crew headed out on a special tuna trip. It was a special trip just for our crew, and they went out and had a great time! You may have seen the photos on Facebook of the tuna they kept, and they released many more. They also saw quite the display from the whales- hopefully we’ll have some more videos and photos soon!

We lost both weekend trips due to the wind, and the early part of the week looks windy too. We’re hoping Mother Nature cooperates by the end of the week so we can get back out there to the fishing grounds.

We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

September 17, 2023

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we had another great week of fishing. We had several private charters this week, and they were filling the boat with porgies, seabass, blues, and even a few codfish that decided to show up. Overall, a great week of fishing. Unfortunately, we lost a few trips due to Hurricane Lee- but by Sunday, we were back out there and the porgies were coming over the rails. We’re looking forward to a great fall fishing season. Be sure to join us soon!

We added one more After Work Special for this Friday night- grab a spot before it fills up! We have a few dates open for some fall private charters- send us an email to get your date on the calendar now!

August 20, 2023

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that once again, we are on repeat- it was a great week of fishing! Bottom fishing was excellent, with limits of porgies filling the coolers, and some nice seabass as well. We’ve had lots of kids out recently- we love that they’re spending part of their summer with us! Take a kid fishing!

Our bass and blue trips continue to have huge blues coming over the rails, often times being chased by hungry seals! Anglers are arm weary by the end of the trip after reeling in the blues all day.

As you may have seen in our Facebook video, we will have a sunset cruise seal watch on Saturday, September 2. All proceeds from this trip will go to help the efforts in Hawaii after the devastating wildfires. Please join us on this trip!

August 13, 2023

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that it was another week of excellent fishing. The bottom fishing continues to be excellent, with lots of jumbo porgies filling the coolers, with some nice seabass as well. Our Saturday afternoon family trips are done for the year, and our last one of the season was fantastic. Congrats to Brianna for her beautiful seabass!

We’ve had to contend with some hungry seals on our bass and blue trips! They too want these jumbo blues that are coming over the rails! We’ll post some videos soon, be sure to check them out!

Our sunset cruise and seal watch on Saturday night was a perfect summer evening. Thanks to all who came out to support the Warm Center! Be sure to join us on one of these trips soon!

August 6, 2023

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we’re on repeat over here….another week of great summer fishing! The bottom fishing has been excellent, with loads of porgies coming over the rails and into the coolers. A good mix of seabass as well. We’ve had a lot of kids on board this week, and they have loved catching porgies all day long! Our favorite trip of the week was once again with The Fallen Outdoors, an organization providing veterans with outdoor activities. This time, they brought their kids, and everyone had a great time! We were honored to be able to be a part of the experience!

Our bass and blue trips have been successful as well, with loads of huge blues providing lots of action for our anglers. These trips are very popular and sell out quickly so grab your tickets as soon as you see them posted. We hope to add a few more trips in the coming weeks as well.

Our sunset cruise and seal watch on Saturday night provided an absolutely gorgeous sunset background for the loads of seals we saw! These trips are fundrasiers for several local nonprofit organizations, so it was a win for everyone! Be sure to join us on one of these trips soon!

Our school supply drive is in full swing- bring some school supplies on your trip, and be entered to win free Black Hawk trips, shirts, and more. As always, thanks for helping us help the local community.
