Heather from the Black Hawk office repots that it was another good week of fishing! It sounds like we’re on repeat, once again with loads of porgies and a good mix of seabass filling up the coolers. Now is the time to join us! We have a few more weeks of our Saturday afternoon family trips- be sure to join us! These trips are great, with our kids and families spending quality time together on the water while reeling in the fish all afternoon!

Our bass and blue trips were again excellent, with huge blues coming over the rails all night.

We have another sunset cruise and seal watch coming up on Saturday night, with proceeds going to multiple non-profits in the area- grab your tickets now and join us for a relaxing night on the water.

Heather from the Black Hawk office repots that it was another great week of fishing! Bottom fishing was again excellent, with loads of porgies and a good mix of seabass filling up the coolers. Summer fishing at its finest! We loved having our family trip on Saturday afternoon, where some youngsters had a great time reeling in the porgies all afternoon.

Our bass and blue trips were again excellent, with huge blues making for arm weary anglers. These trips are very popular and sell out every week, so grab your tickets early!

Perhaps the biggest story of the week was our Thursday fluke trip- simply sensational fluke fishing. Multiple limits around the boat, with many others with 2-3 fluke each. Easily our best fluke trip of the year! Check out our video on Facebook and YouTube!

We had a great sunset cruise fundraiser for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention on Saturday night. We have sunset cruises every Saturday night, so be sure to join us!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports another good week of fishing! Our bottom fishing trips this week showed excellent porgy fishing, with jumbos coming over the rails and into the coolers. A good mix of seabass made for an excellent week of fishing!

Our Saturday afternoon family trip was successful, with many young anglers spending the afternoon with their families reeling in some nice porgies. These trips are some of our favorites, grab your tickets and hop on board!!

Our after work special trips and afternoon charters were excellent, with huge blues and some nice bass all night long. These trips have been fantastic, so join us soon!

We had a great time on our Celebrate East Lyme Day fireworks trip, and would like to thank everyone who brought toys and books for this annual Christmas in July trip. We are so fortunate to be able to help our local community in this way, and we thank everyone for their support.

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports another good week of fishing!  Even though July 4th had on and off showers all day, our awesome anglers stuck to the rails and filled the coolers with jumbo porgies and beautiful seabass.  The rest of the bottom fishing trips for the week were more of the same, with excellent fishing and happy anglers all around the boat.

Our night bass trip was plagued by bluefish all night which made for a tough trip. The blues were chewing up the eels but we did still put some keepers in the coolers. Our after work trips were loaded with big blues and some nice bass in the mix as well. These trips are a blast, so be sure to grab your tickets soon and get your spot on board!

Our fluke trip had us picking through the shorts to get to the keepers, but we topped off the coolers with some seabass, making for a good trip.

We had a great time on our Sailfest fireworks trip, and would like to thank everyone who brought diapers for our annual diaper drive. We are so fortunate to be able to help our local community in this way, and we thank everyone for their support. We look forward to our next fireworks trip next Saturday night!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that it was another good week of fishing on the Black Hawk! While we did lose a day to the wind, the rest of the week showed good fishing on the porgies and seabass. On Monday night, we had our annual trip with The Fallen Outdoors, a group that brings veterans together to do outdoor activities. We are honored to be able to donate this trip to the group, and hope to do so for years to come!

Our weekend trips were excellent, with our bottom fishing trips during the days, our Friday After Work Special, and our family trip on Saturday. The kids had a blast reeling in porgies all afternoon. We hold these special trips every Saturday afternoon, and hope you can join us! Take a kid fishing!

We’ll be running blues/bass trips on Sunday afternoons starting in July- we’ve had many requests for these trips, and they are filling fast- so grab your spot today!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that it was an exciting week on the Black Hawk! The opening of seabass showed some nice keepers coming over the rails, making for some happy anglers! We had to deal with a stuff easterly blow for part of the week, causing us to cancel our fluke trip and making the fishing more difficult on some trips. When it finally gave up, we were able to get back to the pile and had limits of porgies around the boat.

On our first night bass trip of the season, we unfortunately had a less than favorable wind conditions that made things difficult. Those that stuck it out at the rails and fished hard were rewarded with slot limits fish but we had to pick through some shorts. We also had a few oversized bass that were released unharmed.

Our after work special trip on Friday evening was fantastic, with huge blues and good numbers of bass coming over the rails all night long. Anglers were happily arm weary by the end of the night.

As a reminder, we have our Family Fishing Trips in July- these special trips are shorter, carry a limited number of passengers, and are geared towards families with young children. We’ll be doing these every Saturday afternoon in the summer, so be sure to join us!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that the story of the week is the sensational bass fishing we had this week! Our private charter night trip had good numbers of stripers coming over the rails all night long. Our After Work Special trip on Friday was phenomenal, with a boat limit of slot keepers, bluefish, and many bigger fish safely released.

Our porgy trips were slower in the early part of the week, but picked up by the end of the week and the weekend. We had a beautiful day on Father’s Day, and enjoyed fishing with all the fathers who joined us!

We will also be starting our Family Fishing Trips in July- these special trips are shorter, carry a limited number of passengers, and are geared towards families with young children. We’ll be doing these every Saturday afternoon in the summer, so be sure to join us!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that while we had some excellent fishing this week, not all of our trips were as we’d have liked them to be. Our trips early in the week showed good fishing, but toward the end of the week it slowed down a bit and we had to work to get the coolers filled up. On some days, we had to put in some overtime, and our awesome anglers had to work hard and put in the time at the rail. We’re hoping for improvement as we continue next week.

Our After Work trip on Friday had nice keeper bass and a good mix of bluefishing coming over the rails all night long. Grab your spot soon for these trips, they fill up quickly!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that the weekday porgy fishing was once again excellent. During our day trips, the porgies were flying over the rails and filling the coolers! The end of the week and through the weekend was a bit slower, and we had to put in some overtime. But, we’ll do what needs to be done- so we stayed a bit late and those who stuck with us had good numbers of porgies. Some nice weakfish in the mix on some of the porgy trips as well.

On Wednesday night, we had a special fundraiser trip for the New London Maritime Society. This was a great night- we saw some seals and some birds, and had local bird expert Matt from the Maritime Society on board to share a wealth of information. It was a great night! We have a few open nights for fundraisers left this summer- these fill fast, so if your non-profit group is looking for a fundraiser, be sure to contact Heather soon.

Our Thursday fluke trip was pretty good- we had to pick through the shorts to get the keepers, but our fantastic anglers did just that.

Our After Work trip on Thursday had nice keeper bass coming over the rails, along with some blues too. We have more of these trips coming soon, so be sure to grab your spot on board!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that it already feels like we’re on repeat- it was another week of excellent fishing. Porgy fishing was excellent on our weekday trips. Saturday was a little slow at the start, but picked up as the trip went on and we ended with many full coolers! Saturday also showed good numbers of big weakfish coming over the rails as well!

Our first fluke trip of the season was good- we had a stiff wind to contend with which made for a difficult drift. We had to pick through the shorts but we still put quality fish on ice before heading in. Overall, not a bad start to the season.

Our After Work trips again showed excellent bass fishing, with lots of fish in the limit and many others released. We have another one of these trips coming up on Thursday afternoon, so be sure to join us!

Our Calamar Safari had ink squirting all over the boat as we filled up the buckets. These trips are always so much fun!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that it was again an excellent week of fishing- now is the time to come out and join us! Porgy fishing remained fantastic, with limits all around the boat. Private charters on both Wednesday and Friday filled with boat with limits of porgies, and then stopped for some bass, getting several keepers! Spring fishing at its finest!

Our Calamari Safaris showed good squid fishing- we hope to have a few more of these before the season ends. Stay tuned for dates.

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we had some excellent porgy fishing this past week- limits all around the boat! Congrats to the youngsters from Troop 3, who joined us on Saturday and had a great time filling their coolers with porgies. They were camping and cooked their catch for dinner Saturday night- hope it was delicious, kids! Most trips had a good mix of weakfish, and we even had a few bluefish to round out the coolers.

Our bass trip had a full boat limit of fish within the slot limit, with others released. We will have more of these trips, so be sure to watch the website and join us! Our squid trips continue to have a good showing of squid. Friday’s trip started off strong, then was a bit more of a pick for the rest of the evening. We will be adding a few more of these trips before the season ends, so stay tuned!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that it was a great start to our porgy season, with fantastic fishing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Saturday and Sunday were simply sensational fishing, with limits of porgies around the boat. A good number of weakfish in the mix as well.

Our squid trip on Friday night wasn’t the bucket filler we had hoped for, but showed a decent number of squid. Saturday’s trip was much better, with lots of squid coming over the rails all evening. We will be adding more “Calamari Safari” trips soon, including one on Tuesday night. These trips are popular and fill up fast, so grab your spots soon!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that it felt great to get back on the water! We started on Friday night last night with our first Calamari Safari trip!

It wasn’t a bucket filling bail job, but we had nice signs of life as we found a few piles of squid here and there to work on- not a bad start to the season by any means!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports a great weekend at the Connecticut Fishing and Outdoor Show at Mohegan Sun this weekend. We had a great time seeing some familiar faces and meeting new ones! We met some tough kids who came to “fight like fish” and win prizes, and they sure did! We can’t wait to have some of them on the boat this summer!

We’re getting ready for the season- it’ll be here before we know it! The boat will be heading back to Niantic soon from our winter work in New York, and we’ll have some updates and schedules soon!
