December 14, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we had a good week of
winter fishing! After losing last weekend due to the weather, we were
able to get out several days in the last week. Monday’s trip, after
the strong winds of the weekend, was a bit tough. The water was still
dirty and the fishing was a bit of a grind, but those who stuck it out
went home with good numbers of seabass, a few cod, and even some jumbo
porgies. Tuesday we headed out with a private charter, but the actual
wind was very different than the forecast, and the rough seas made for
a tougher trip. Wednesday was better, with some limits of seabass and
some cod and ling in the mix.

On Thursday, we moved over to our winter dock in Noank at the Noank
Shipyard, and sailed from there Friday and Saturday. Friday had great
seabass fishing, with limits all over the boat, as well as a good mix
of cod and jumbo porgies. Saturday was the best cod fishing we’ve
seen yet this year! Solid fishing seabass, ling, bergals, and even a
pair of weakfish. Overall, a great day on the water!

With this winter storm coming, we’re losing much of the week, but the
weekend looks nice, so we hope to get out then. As always, this time
of year our schedule is dictated by the wind. We’ll get out as much
as possible when we’re able.

As usual, we will continue to post new trips on Monday evenings around
8pm. Going forward, trips will be posted for Fridays, Saturdays and
Sundays. We will post weekday trips based on the weather closer to
the date of the trip. Check our Facebook page and website for updates
and reports.

December 7, 2020

Last Sunday was absolutely beautiful weather day on the water- you can’t buy fishing weather this nice in November! And to make it even better the sea bass catching was lights out! We filled up with an easy boat limit of knotheads with fish up to 5lbs! There were plenty of scup to go around as well and another nice mix of cod making for a great mixed bag trip on the Black Hawk!

As usual, we will continue to post new trips on Monday evenings around
8pm. Going forward, trips will be posted for Fridays, Saturdays and
Sundays. We will post weekday trips based on the weather closer to
the date of the trip. Check our Facebook page and website for updates
and reports.

November 30, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports we had another week of
great fishing on the Black Hawk. We lost last Monday due to the
weather, but were able to get out Tuesday and Wednesday for our combo
trips. Tuesday’s trip was phenomenal, with limits of seabass and lots
of blackfish, with some porgies and cod in the mix as well. Simply
fantastic fall fishing. Wednesday was a little tougher with some wind
to contend with, but those who stuck it out were able to get a good
number of fish. Friday was more of the same, with some wind but still
good fishing. Saturday was a beautiful weather day with a boat limit
of seabass, a good number of porgies, and some beautiful cod in the
mix.

As usual, we will continue to post new trips on Monday evenings around
8pm. Going forward, trips will be posted for Fridays, Saturdays and
Sundays. We will post weekday trips based on the weather closer to
the date of the trip. Check our Facebook page and website for updates
and reports.

November 22, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports another week of great
fishing, when we could get out. We unfortunately lost a few days due
to the wind, but that’s expected at this time of year. When we were
able to get out, the fishing was excellent. Our combo trips showed
good numbers of blackfish, as well as continued excellent seabass and
cod fishing. Our Saturday bottom fishing trip had limits of seabass,
as well as a good mix of porgies and cod to fill up the coolers.

The Black Hawk family would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy
Thanksgiving. Even though things are certainly different now than
most years, we continue to be thankful for you, our Black Hawk
customers, and all of your support throughout these difficult times.
We’ve said it before, and will continue to say, that we have the best
customers around- you’re all part of the Black Hawk family and we’re
so glad you’re here.

As usual, we will continue to post new trips on Monday evenings around
8pm. Going forward, trips will be posted for Fridays, Saturdays and
Sundays. We will post weekday trips based on the weather closer to
the date of the trip. Check our Facebook page and website for updates
and reports.

November 15, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports another great week of fall
fishing! We were able to get out every day, and had some excellent
results! Much like past weeks, we’ve had limits of big sea bass, a
good mix of porgies, and more and more cod coming over the rails. Our
blackfishing / bottom fishing combo trips had good numbers of
blackfish, with lots of shorts mixed in. Combine those with the jumbo
seabass and a good shot of cod and it makes for an excellent
freezer-filler trip!

As usual, we will continue to post new trips on Monday evenings around
8pm. Going forward, trips will be posted for Fridays, Saturdays and
Sundays. We will post weekday trips based on the weather closer to
the date of the trip. Check our Facebook page and website for updates
and reports.

November 8, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we lost the early part
of last week due to the high winds and rough sea conditions. However,
once we were able to get back out, we had some absolutely gorgeous
weather for some great fall fishing!

Our bottom fishing trips once again showed excellent seabass fishing,
with good numbers of porgies and cod in the mix. Our combo
blackfishing/bottom fishing trip had us picking through the shorts to
get to the keeper blackfish, but there were some there! Saturday’s
weather was absolutely beautiful, and the fishing was excellent.
Monster sea bass, jumbo poriges, and a good pick of cod throughout the
day made for a great day of fall fishing!

As always, we continue to fish daily, weather permitting.
Reservations are required with new trips posted on Monday evenings.
Grab your tickets as soon as possible so you can get the date you’d
like! We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

November 1, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we had another great
week of fishing! We had our first combo trip, where we spent part of
the day blackfishing and part of the day bottom fishing. While we
didn’t load up on the blackfish, we had a good number of keepers and a
lot of shorts. The seabass fishing was fantastic, with limits all
around the boat. Add in some cod, porgies, some winter flounder and
even a triggerfish to round out the mix.

Our regular bottom fishing trips again showed excellent seabass
fishing, with a good mix of porgies and codfish. These trips are
simply phenomenal fishing, so now’s the time to come fill up the
freezer for the winter.

As usual, we continue to post new trips on Monday nights around 8pm.
Trips are by reservation only so be sure to grab your spot as soon as
you see them posted. Check our website and Facebook page for updates.
We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

October 25, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports a week of great fishing!
Mother Nature cooperated this week, and we were able to get out every
day. Limits of seabass, jumbo porgies, and more and more codfish are
coming over the rails! We even had a few winter flounder to round out
the mix. Overall, a week of excellent fall fishing.

As a reminder, it’s certainly fall fishing now- bring your winter
gear, as it’s much colder on the water than on land. We’ve had some
people in the last week who thought it was still summer- t-shirts and
sneakers, with no jackets or sweatshirts. Be prepared for chilly
temperatures and fall fishing attire!

We continue to fish daily, with reservations required. Trips are
posted one week at a time, with new trips posted on Monday evenings.
Weekend trips continue to sell out very quickly, so be sure to grab
your seats soon if you’d like to join us. We look forward to seeing
everyone soon!

October 18, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports….well, it’s pretty much the same as last week. When we can get out, the fishing has been excellent. However, due to the weather, we lost several trips during the week. Excellent seabass fishing, with most customers easily getting their limits. Jumbo porgies, more and more cod, and we even had a few winter flounder on Thursday.

We plan on fishing daily, weather permitting, and reservations are required. New trips continue to be posted on Monday nights around 8pm, so be sure to go online and grab your tickets. As always, check our website and Facebook page for updates and details. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

October 11, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that Mother Nature didn’t exactly cooperate with us this week, as we lost several days due to the high winds and rough seas. Tuesday showed excellent fishing, with limits of jumbo seabass, as well as a good mix of codfish and even a few winter flounder to round out the mix. Simply sensational fishing. Unfortunately, we lost Wednesday and Thursday to the weather. Friday’s report was promising, but the weatherman got it wrong- there were rough seas and sloppy conditions. However, the fishing was excellent, with some of the best seabass fishing all season.

Saturday and Sunday were also cancelled due to the winds and rough weather. From here on out, it’s certainly a weather situation- we’ll get out as much as we can, weather permitting. It’s definitely fall fishing now, and even the good days aren’t the same as the flat calm summer conditions, so be prepared for fall fishing weather and temperatures.

We hope to get some blackfishing trips in too, so be sure to check Facebook frequently, as these trips will be posted there, often with very short notice. As always, you can check Facebook and our website for reports and updates.

We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

October 4, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we had another great week of fishing! The week started off strong, with good trips with limits of big seabass and porgies around the boat. Tuesday was a bit of a grind, but those who put in the time at the rail were able to fill the buckets and coolers with a good number of fish. We did lose both Wednesday and Thursday due to the heavy winds and resulting high seas, but Friday things picked up where we left off with excellent fishing.

Saturday showed excellent bottom fishing in the morning, and it continued into the night with the night bass tri. An easy boat limit of fish within the slot limit, and then we caught and released dozens more, with many over 40 pounds! As of this writing (on Sunday afternoon), we’re looking forward to another great night trip tonight.

We’re also incredibly honored to announce that we have once again been named the “Best Charter Boat Company” in The Day’s “Best of the Best” contest. We’d like to thank all of you- for fishing with us, voting for us, helping us with our community projects- we wouldn’t be here without all of you! As you know, once you’ve fished with us, we consider you part of the Black Hawk family- and we’re so lucky to have such a great family!

As always, check our website and Facebook page for updates and info. We continue to post new trips on Monday evenings, and post them one week at a time. We know it can be hard to get a spot, so we encourage you to grab your tickets when you see them posted. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

September 27, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that in the beginning of the week, we missed a few days due to high winds and rough seas. When we started back up, unfortunately we had a bit of wind to contend with and a leftover swell as well, making for less than ideal conditions. This resulted in the fish not biting the way they had before the storm. We picked away all day and managed to put some quality fish on ice but it was not what we had on earlier trips.

As the week progressed, the weather and fishing improved, and trips on Friday and Saturday were much better, with limits of seabass, jumbo porgies, and a good number of trigger fish in the mix as well. There were even a few codfish, a good sign of things to come! Excellent fall fishing!

We unfortunately lost our two night bass trips, but hope to get out there again soon- stay tuned and we will post trips soon.

We continue to fish daily, with reservations required. Trips are posted one week at a time, with new trips posted on Monday evenings. Weekend trips continue to sell out very quickly, so be sure to grab your seats soon if you’d like to join us. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

September 20, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports another week of excellent fishing.   The sea bass fishing remains nothing short of spectacular, with limits of huge seabass coming over the rails.  Lots of porgies, too, as well as as good number of triggerfish- overall, just another great week of fishing!  Unfortunately, we did lose Friday’s trip due the wind, but were able to get in Saturday’s trip which picked up right where we left off.

We also lost both of our night bass trips due to the wind, but we’re hoping to get a few more in before the end of the season.  Stay tuned and they will be posted online as soon as possible.

As always, trips are posted on Monday evenings, and all trips are by reservation only.  Grab your tickets as soon as possible, as they are filling up fast.  We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

September 13, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports another great week of fishing! We had more outstanding days of bottom fishing, with jumbo porgies and huge seabass coming over the rails. We had a good mix of triggerfish as well. On Saturday, we had some wind to contend with, and had to fish in some secondary spots. It was a little tougher than it had been, but we still brought home a good number of both porgies and seabass.

Our After Work Special trips ended this week with Friday night’s trip. Huge blues made for a memorable last After Work trip of the season.

Our schedule has changed slightly, as we’re only doing one trip per day now on the weekends, leaving at 6am. Trips are still posted on Monday evenings, and are filling up about a week ahead of time. We recommend getting your tickets as early as possible so you can get the date you’d like. As always, check the website and Facebook for updates and reports. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

September 6, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office is on repeat…. it was simply excellent fishing again this week! The bonus season started for the porgies and seabass, and we had many customers getting their limit on several trips this week. We had some fluke, triggerfish, and even a few cod in the mix this week- we’re looking forward to a great fall fishing season!

We’re down to the end of our After Work Trips- our last one will be Friday, September 11. Last week’s trips showed good fishing, with a decent amount of blues and some seabass in the mix as well. We’re looking forward to these trips again next year!

As usual, trips are by reservation only at this time, and new trips are posted on Monday evenings. We’re down to one trip a day on the weekends now, instead of two, so the trips are filling fast. Grab your spots when you see them so you are sure to get the date you want! Check our website and Facebook page for updates, and we look forward to seeing everyone soon!

August 30, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk reports another week of excellent fishing. Limits of porgies and seabass, with a nice mix of triggerfish and some fluke in there to fill up the coolers as well. We’re looking forward to the bonus season for the porgies and seabass starting this week.

As you know, we consider our customers part of the Black Hawk family, and we unfortunately have some sad family news. Charlie- Faith’s husband, Heather & Ryan’s stepfather, and Capt. Greg’s “husband-in-law” – suddenly and unexpectedly passed away last weekend. To say we are devastated doesn’t begin to cover it. Charlie was an integral part of the Black Hawk family, always fixing things, doing all of our scuba diving work, and helping out however he could. Many of you have met him down at the dock while Faith was selling tickets, always keeping busy, selling t-shirts in the shirt trailer, or working on some project. He is irreplaceable and we will miss him terribly.

We continue to post new trips on Monday evenings, with reservations required for all trips. We encourage you to get your tickets as soon as possible, as trips are selling out about a week ahead of time. As always, check the website and Facebook page for details and updates. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

August 23, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports another week of great fishing! Limits of porgies and seabass all around the boat, with a few triggerfish in the mix on several trips as well. Some of the most beautiful weather of the summer, paired with excellent fishing, made for a great week. Our After Work Special trips and charters showed excellent fishing as well.

We have another Black Hawk and the Community Program seal watch on Tuesday. We hope to have one or two more of them soon. We were incredibly honored to drop off a load of toys, in addition to mailing out donation checks, to various organizations who usually hold fundraisers with us. This was possible due to our seal watches, and we are so happy that we are able to give back to the local community in such a difficult time.

Our schedule remains the same until Labor Day, when it changes to one trip on the weekends. Only a few more After Work trips remain, so be sure to book those soon. As always, trips are by reservation only and we post new trips on Monday evenings. Check our Facebook page and website for details.

August 16, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports another great week of summer fishing! Limits of porgies and seabass coming over the rails all week long! There’s only so many ways we can say the same thing week after week- so just come out and join us to see for yourself! The weekend was a little tougher, with some windy conditions to contend with, but we fished in some secondary spots and still did good with the porgies and seabass. As always, we do our best to get you on the fish!

On our After Work Special trips, we saw lots of action with blues, a few short bass, and some seabass mixed in as well. There are only a few of these trips left in the season, so grab your spots as soon as you see them posted online.

We’ve got another family trip coming up this week, and another seal watch next week. We look forward to getting out there with some kids and families and introducing them to fishing, and then raising more funds for local non-profit organizations on our seal watch.

Our schedule will remain the same through Labor Day, when it will change slightly and have only one trip on the weekends. Stay tuned to our website and Facebook page for updates and info. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

August 9, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that aside from the interruption from Isaias, we had a great week on the water. Sunday and Monday showed excellent fishing, with jumbo porgies and seabass coming over the rails. We lost Tuesday and Wednesday morning due to the storm, but were able to get out on our private charter on Wednesday night. They had a great night, with a good mix of blues, a few short striped bass, and lots of seabass. Thursday our morning bottom fishing trips picked up right where we left off, with limits of porgies and seabass all around the boat. Our After Work trips on both Thursday and Friday were action packed with blues and some seabass as well.

We were able to get in our seal watch on Monday night before the storm came. We’re looking forward to another one or two before the summer is over. As always, these are part of our Black Hawk and the Community program and all proceeds go to local non-profit organizations.

We continue to post new trips each Monday night, and they are selling out about a week to a week and a half ahead of time, so we encourage you to get your tickets as soon as possible. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

August 2, 2020

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we had quite the week! Early in the week we had more excellent bottom fishing, with jumbo porgies and seabass coming over the rails. Things really got crazy on Wednesday, though, when we caught a 355 pound thresher shark!

Capt. Greg, along with mates Mike and Brett and a great group of customers, decided to spend some time shark fishing after the bottom fishing trip. Nobody was sure what to expect, so imagine the surprise when this huge thresher jumped on the rod. The story was picked up by several local news organizations, especially given recent shark activity throughout New England. While not a normal day on the Black Hawk, it was certainly a day to remember!

The rest of the week and weekend were back to normal, with excellent bottom fishing and beautiful weather. We’re watching the weather carefully in regards to the upcoming storm, so stay tuned to our website and Facebook page for updates and any schedule changes. As always, our trips are by reservation only right now to allow for social distancing protocols New trips are posted on Monday evenings and are filling up about a week to a week and a half ahead of time, so be sure to check online and grab your tickets as soon as you see them.

We look forward to seeing everyone soon!
