fishing reports
Capt. Greg from the Black Hawk reports that unfortunately, Tuesday’s blackfishing trip had to be canceled due to high winds and rough seas. There’s no sense of beating everybody up for a handful of fish, we just couldn’t do it. We’re hoping the weather cooperates for our trip coming up this Thursday. On Wednesday, the weather cleared and we had a bluefish charter. We slayed the bluefish, diamond jigging as many as anyone could want, filled all the coolers, exhausted everyone, and then as a little bonus we went seabass and scup fishing. The good anglers got their limit of seabass and everyone had some nice porgies before we went in. Overall, excellent fishing.
Friday, in spite of heavy northerly winds, we fished in some protected waters and really got the seabass and porgies, with a handful of codfish and a few blackfish as well. Excellent fishing, once again, mostly limits on the seabass all the way around with nice stuff, up to 5-6 pounds. Loads of porgies with some nice codfish as well. Saturday was the same. Capt. Matt had the boat on both Satruday and Sunday, both of those days were very good on the bottom fishing, a handful of bluefish mixed in- even though we’re not going for them- we still got a few of ’em. Overall, an excellent week of fishing. We’re looking forward to continued success in the next few weeks.
Heather from the office wants to remind everyone that our schedule is Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, one trip daily at 7:00 am. This time of year, it’s a good idea to call a day or two ahead of time to check on the conditions before heading down. We also have some trips going out during the week- we’ve got a semi-private charter that still has a limited number of spots available on Tuesday the 27th, and a blackfish trip coming up on Thursday, October 29 Stay tuned to our website and facebook page as we plan on adding a few more special trips in the upcoming weeks.
