FISHING REPORTS

Capt. Greg from the Black Hawk reports absolutely excellent seabass fishing all week long. Big fish, a lot of big scup in there too. The only exception was Friday’s trip- due to the strong northeasterly winds we altered our plans a little bit and stayed inside, fishing around Race Rock, the south shore of Fisher’s Island and down at Watch Hill. Fish everywhere we stopped, but no big concentration of them anywhere. As the water chills off, we’re hoping something happens here locally. As of now, the premier fishing is out in the Montauk and Block Island area. There’s been some codfish caught during the week, a handful of fluke here and there too.
On another note, the bluefishing has drastically improved in the Race. The ebb tide has been sensational, all you wanted diamond jigging, a few striped bass mixed in with them. Customers have been catching their fill and releasing the rest on the bluefish trips.
All in all we’re looking for some great fall fishing in the coming weeks.
Heather from the office wants to thank everyone for their Black Hawk and the Community donations so far this month. We were able to take a huge load of dog supplies to Friday’s Rescue Foundation last week, where they will go to help dogs who are awaiting their forever homes. We will still collect these items for the rest of September.
Our After Work Special trips are done for the year, we’d like to thank everyone for a great run with these trips this year. We look forward to more of these trips next year. Heather also reminds everyone that our schedule is now Sundays & Mondays, one trip daily for bass & blues at 8:00 am. Tuesday through Saturday it’s one trip daily for porgies and seasbass. Check the website for a full schedule and updates.
