Heather reports from the Blackhawk that just when you think it can’t get any better, BANG! It goes from being very good to absolutely sensational. We fished every day this week, and although the legal size limits on the seabass are 14 inches, some days we went from 14 to 18 to 20 to 22 inch limits. Why catch a three or four pounder when you can catch a 6 to 6 ½ pounder. What does that tell you? Big seabass….MONSTERS. Spectacular Fishing! Customers couldn’t believe it; some didn’t realize they could get that big. Jumbo porgies, cod fish, black fish and even a handful of blue fish each day rounded out the trips. Customers were arm weary with full coolers going off the boat. Weather overall has been spectacular for this time of year! Saturday’s trip, despite brisk northwesterly winds, was absolutely the best of the week. We anchored up on a pile of them and stayed there the whole trip. Sunday was a little bit of a different story; still had some northwesterly breeze which blew in quite a few dogfish. The fishing was still good, but a little more challenging as you had to get though the dogs. We moved around to a few spots but we still seemed to attract ‘em. Overall, it was still a great day of fishing for mid-November.
If you’re looking to fill your freezer with top quality fish, this is the time of year to do it! Although our schedule now is Fridays Saturdays and Sundays, sailing at 7 am, we have a lot of private charters and many specialty trips coming up. Stay tuned to our website, and get on our email list because these trips fill up as soon as we post them. Make sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to check out pictures, videos and reports on our trips.
The Black Hawk sends a special thank you to all our service men and women for your willingness to serve and for your personal sacrifices. Without all of you, we couldn’t have the freedom to be doing what we all love to do! This week, to show our appreciation for your service, we are holding a special trip on Wednesday for our Veterans with a special price as a thank you from all of us on the Blackhawk! As always, give the office a call if you have any questions or want the most up to date fishing or weather report. We’re also still collecting items for our Black Hawk and the Community program- we’re hoping to help make Thanksgiving a bit easier for some local families and are collecting food items- especially needed are stuffing mix, canned vegetables, and bread/roll mixes. Thanks for helping!
