Capt. Greg from the Black Hawk reports that our first After Work Special trip on Thursday afternoon was a success, with a lot of action on striped bass. We had 6-8 keepers with a bunch of shorts. Nothing monstrous like the night trips produce, but fish up to 20 pounds. During the slack Capt. Matt took the customers bottom fishing where everybody caught a handful of porgies and seabass now that the New York Seabass season is open.
The porgy fishing remains nothing short of excellent- no problem getting your easy limit with little difficulty and then switching over to Seabass. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of short seabass and you have to weed through them to get the 15 inch and above keepers.
We’ve got more night big bass trips coming up this week, so stay tuned for the reports on those.
Heather from the office reports that we only have a few dates left in July for charters, so be sure to call the office to get your group on board before we fill up. We’ve started taking reservations for the Sailfest and Niantic fireworks. Those are always popular and fill up quickly, so grab your spots soon. As a reminder, we are fishing every day- two trips on Saturdays and Sundays at 6am and 1pm, and one trip during the week, at 7am. Night bass trips, After Work Specials, and our new Sundown Scup and Seabass trips are all posted on our website, so be sure to check them out and join us soon! We look forward to seeing everyone soon!
