Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that our trip last Tuesday was an absolutely beautiful day with some great fishing, as well! The cod started to chew right off the bat and we continued to pick away at them all day. There were plenty of ling and bergals mixed in with solid catch quality cod. High hook had 7 keeper cod with others having multiple fish as well. Overall, a nice trip on the winter cod grounds.
Saturday was a bit different, and it seemed like the cod fishing has reverted to the way it was a few years ago- the first boat on the grounds gets them coming and the rest of the boats pick away on the outside. Unfortunately that is how Saturday’s trip went for us. We put some quality fish on the boat but the quantity was not the same.
We’re looking forward to getting back out there this week- the weather looks good so we’re heading out Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. These trips will fill fast, so be sure to grab your tickets online. As always, stay tuned to our Facebook page and website for details and updates.
