Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that last Monday and Tuesday we had excellent combo trips- spent some time blackfishing, some time bottom fishing. The seabass fishing was excellent both days with fish up to 5 pounds. The blackfish seemed to cooperate a bit more on Monday than on Tuesday, but both trips had a good number of blackfish just before the season closed on Thursday.
Friday we had some wind to contend with, which didn’t make for the easiest of conditions, but the porgies didn’t care! From the first drop to the last, the scup were sailing over the rail and into the pail! We still caught plenty of sea bass and cod, but it was hard to get the bait past the swarm of jumbo scup! Saturday and Sunday we had private charters with some great groups. Saturday was a windy one, but we still were able to load up on the scup, had some seabass, and a few cod in the mix. Sunday’s trip had a nice weather window, and we took full advantage, getting limits of porgies, a boat limit of seabass, and a good number of cod. Overall, an excellent day on the water!
We’ll be moving the boat to Noank in the next few days and we will continue to sail from the Noank Shipyard for the remainder of our season. We will be adding more trips as soon as we get some nice weather later this week! As always, check our website and Facebook page for an updated schedule. We plan on fishing as much as the weather allows, so when we post a trip, grab your spot quickly before they sell out! Don’t miss out on the awesome fishing at Block Island!
