Heather from the Black Hawk reports that hopefully, you know us well enough by now to know that we’ll give you the honest reports. When it’s good, we’ll tell you. When it’s not…well, we’ll tell you that too. The last few trips have been tough. Last Sunday and Monday were spent moving to several different grounds, and while we were able to pick away on some cod, some ling and some bergals, it was tough.

Friday’s trip was more of the same. We still picked away and put some cod, sea bass, ling and bergals in the coolers. Saturday’s trip was more of the same. On Sunday, we finally had some improvement. We fished some new ground with a much better results, and ended up with a solid catch of keeper cod with a lot of shorts mixed in. We had a few haddock, sea bass, pollock, ling and bergals mixed in to round out the coolers!

We’ll continue to fish in January, weather permitting. As you probably know, this time of year the fishing can change day to day, so we’ll be heading as often as possible.

As always, check our website and Facebook page for updates and info. We look forward to seeing you soon. On behalf of the entire Black Hawk family, we wish you a Happy New Year and a happy and healthy 2020!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we did get out the last few days, but the fishing wasn’t what we hoped for. Saturday had some of the best weather we could ask for, but the fishing wasn’t as good. We had lots of short cod, but the big fish just didn’t want to bite. We moved around quite a bit, and did have ling, bergals, sea bass, and pollock mixed in with the keeper cod we did get. Overall, it was not the bite we left before the recent storms.

Sunday was tough. You know us- we’ll tell it like it is, and Sunday was a tough day. We made a bunch of moves on some different grounds, but nothing was cooperating. We marked plenty of life on the bottom, but the fish just didn’t want to chew. We were able to pick away at a few keeper cod with some ling and bergals, but it was a tough grind.

The boat is headed out again Monday, and we will post a report after that, so stay tuned. We hope to get out a few more times before the end of the year, as long as Mother Nature cooperates. We will post these trips on our website and Facebook, so check there and join us soon.

The Black Hawk crew would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. We’ve said it before, we have the best customers around, and hope that everyone has a happy holiday. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Heather from the Black Hawk office reports that we fished on Friday, but the weather did not cooperate like it was supposed to- which left us with some pretty nautical conditions. We tried some new grounds, and while the wind and waves didn’t make for easy fishing, we got the job done. We had a healthy catch of cod fish, with the pool winner pushing 25lbs! We had some sea bass in the mix and a lot of ling, pollock, and bergals.

Unfortunately, the weather for the upcoming week doesn’t look good, but we’re watching closely. We will post some trips as soon as we get a weather window, so stay tuned. As always check our Facebook page and website for updates. We hope to see you soon!
