Simply red hot fishing on the seabass and jumbo porgies reports Capt. Greg at the Black Hawk. Customers are having no problem filling their coolers with their limits. There’s also been a shot of a fluke, a lot of shorts with an occasional keeper to this week up to 5 pounds.  Action has been fast and furious. The half day trips on the weekends we’ve been fishing the Watch Hill areas where the porgy fishing has been very good. Not quite the size at Montauk but still plenty action with an occasional seabass.  If you want the very best in fishing, the most action with huge porgies and jumbo sized sea bass, with an occasional fluke or trigger fish mixed in, then the boat you want is the Black Hawk!!

On the local scene the Race and adjacent areas has been exceptionally quiet.  The lack of consistent bluefish is disturbing. Bottom fishing is adequate during times when the tides aren’t screaming but no where like the size, numbers and consistency of the fishing in the Montauk / Block Island areas . We’re all hoping it improves soon since there’s a huge fishing population out there anxiously waiting to diamond jig these bluefish on all the local boats. Time will tell I guess . Follow us on Facebook for daily reports and pictures. We post every trip every day. No “Sugar-Coated Fishing Reports ” here. Just honest reports to help you.

Heather from the office reports that we’ll continue to fish daily, Monday-Friday at 7am and two trips on Saturdays and Sundays (6am and 1pm) through Labor Day.  Our schedule will change a bit in September when we’ll go down to one trip per day on the weekends.  Be sure to check the website for a full schedule.  We look forward to seeing everyone soon!
