Capt. Greg from the Black Hawk reports that the night big bass trips this week were very productive on both bucktails and live eels.Fish up to 40 pounds were taken during the past week, with a lot of action on short fish that were obviously released.
Porgy fishing has been very, very good all during the week, with the exception of Saturday, which was a little tougher. We jumped around and made a trip of out of it. The Sunday, Father’s Day, trip, which did better than Saturday.
Squid fishing is done for this spring, but we will be running some squid trips in the fall, so stay tuned for those.
Heather from the office reports that we have a few dates open for charters, but they are filling up fast, so be sure to call the office soon to grab a spot. We are currently sailing 7 days a week, leaving at 6am on the weekends and 7am during the week. Please note that there is no open trip on Saturday, June 29th.

Capt. Greg from the Black Hawk reports that we had excellent porgy fishing all during the week. Boat limits all around, the scup were really cooperating. Saturday was a different story. With bright sunshine and beautiful conditions, there was a lot of boat traffic and the fish just didn’t cooperate. We put in some overtime, but the fact remains that it was just a tough day. As of this writing, Sunday looks to be much better. The porgies are smaller, but there’s a steady pick. Is it as good as it’s been during the week? No, but with the bright sun and flat conditions, it’s not too bad.
We went on a CT seabass trip on Thursday, and some people had their limits, other people struggled. The fish were all nice size seabass and there was a good amount of scup to go around to fill the bags.
We had two night trips last week. There were a lot of short fish and a lot of action with a handful of keepers. This is getting better and better by the day. We’ll have two more night trips, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Saturday night’s squid trip was average. The sharpies had their half bucket, and the the first timers had 12-15 each. It was a beautiful, flat calm night. While we marked a lot of squid, and we saw a lot under the lights, they just didn’t chew until the start of the flood tide. We stated a little later to get the bite, and it kept getting better as the night went on.
Heather from the office would like to thank everyone for their support for the Uniting for United food drive. We delivered our food last Friday, and were happy to be able to contribute to such a worthy cause to help those dealing with food insecurity in our local area. As always, thanks for all of your help!
We have night trips coming up this week, and our full schedule will start on Monday, June 17. As always, check our website for a full schedule. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!
