Capt. Greg Dubrule of the Black Hawk reports another great week of beautiful weather and excellent fishing. Boat limits of jumbo scup with seabass and a few fluke mixed in, sending customers home with full coolers.
The best of the week for our night striped bass fishing trips was Tuesday with a full boat limit and also releasing many more. These trips are limited and by reservation only.
Thursday and Friday’s “After Work Special” trips, from 4 pm to 10 pm, were flat out fantastic. Bass and blues hit the diamond jigs right off the bat with everyone loading up on fish.
Weekend half day porgy trips were typical weekend fishing. Experienced anglers had their limits, while some struggled, ending up with ten to fifteen.
There was no better way to end a great week of fishing than our SailFest New London Fireworks trip, with a full boat of customers and perfect weather. As part of our Black Hawk and the Community program, customers brought packages of diapers for our diaper drive. Over 2,000 diapers were collected, which will go a long way to help local kids and families. We can’t thank everyone enough for their incredible generosity. It was a great fireworks display, and believe me if you haven’t seen it by boat, it’s the only way to see it. The Niantic Fireworks trip is next Saturday evening, July 15th, as part of Celebrate East Lyme Day, and is offered free of charge if customers bring an unwrapped Christmas gift worth $10 or more and a children’s book. This is also part of our Black Hawk and the Community Program. These Christmas gifts will be distributed in the Groton/New London area during the holiday season.
Heather from the office reports that we are sailing every day, Monday through Friday at 7am with two trips on the weekends, at 6:00 am and 1:00 pm. As always, we have our After Work Special trips heading out on Thursdays and Fridays at 4pm. On July 25, we’ll be heading out for an early morning trip so we are back in time for the Channel 3 Kids Camp tournament that afternoon. We are looking forward to a great day! As always, stay tuned to our Facebook page and website for details and information. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!
