fishing reports

Capt. Greg from the Black Hawk reports that we headed out codfishing on Monday, and it was probably one of the nicer days we’re going to have for an early spring day- flat calm, bright sunshine, and warm. The fishing has had its ups and downs lately, but Monday was pretty good. They bit better first thing in the morning. Some of the guys had close to their limit, nothing big, all 8-12 pounds, with a few pollock mixed in. The good thing is- no dogfish! We had a special angler with ten year old Nathan, who was celebrating his birthday on the boat, and caught some nice codfish. Great job Nathan!

Saturday we had a special trip, a bachelor party for S&S Marine out of Old Saybrook. We took the guys out for a seal watch and lighthouse cruise. We then headed to Dodson’s Marina in Stonington to drop off the group for dinner and drinks at the Dog Watch Cafe, Stonington’s premier on the water restaurant. Congrats to the groom!

Don’t forget to be on the lookout for those tagged trout while you’re out trout fishing! We’ve had over 100 of the tagged trout caught, and we’ve given away some great prizes.

Heather from the office reports that we will start our regular season trips on Saturday, May 7. We’re looking forward to seeing all of our customers and having a great season! As always, check our website and Facebook page for schedule updates, fishing reports and more.
