fishing reports

Capt. Greg reports that great weather and great fishing accompanied us all this week. How can it possibly be the middle of December? Loads of codfish and seabass coming over the rails. Porgies have moved a little bit to the east, a little bit farther away. They’re still there thick as can be, but we’re kind of staying away from them little bit because the codfish and seabass have been so good. We’re even catching some mackerel, pollock, and a few blackfish- although unfortunately, the season is closed right now.

A lot of bait around Block Island- herring and mackerel, and we’ve seen lots of seals, dolphins, and even some whales. It’s really a late season mecca. A winter wonderland of cod and seabass, only without the winter. Happy Fishmas!

Heather from the office reminds everyone that we’ll plan on fishing steadily, weather permitting, right up to Christmas. These are all limited trips by reservation only, so plan accordingly and call early, as the trips are filling up. We also plan on going out on some specialty cod fish trips after the first of the year, so stay tuned to your email for dates and reservation information. It doesn’t take long to fill them up! With the fishing and weather this good, it’s a real bonus for this time of year.

Don’t forget, Black Hawk gift certificates are available now. Give a fishing trip or two to your family and friends for Christmas, and come see why the Black Hawk was voted the most popular party boat in Connecticut for 2015. Remember to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for up to the minute information and details on upcoming trips.

Get ready- we also plan on doing some seal watches over the Christmas vacation! We’re looking forward to doing some special trips, including a fundraiser for Madeline- you may have read about her in the fall when she came out on a special fishing trip with us. We’re looking forward to some great trips, so be sure to check your email for when we post the dates, as we know they’ll fill up quickly!
