fishing reports

Captain Greg reports another great week of fishing during the Thanksgiving holiday. Tuesday’s trip was good, but Wednesday’s trip was one of the nicest; flat calm with great fishing. Spectacular weather for this time of year has made this week some of the best fishing the Black Hawk has seen for late November. Friday’s trip was just a steady pick all day long; we never really got a flurry. Saturday’s trip was next to spectacular; we anchored up on one spot and stayed for the entire day. Porgies, sea bass and plenty of codfish, and we even had a few bluefish and blackfish to round out the menu of the day’s catch. Guys were tired but happy when they reached the dock. Sunday’s trip was again a nice weather day. Started off a little slower in the morning, but ended with a bang. Everyone had their limit of seabass, bags full of porgies, and quite a few codfish mixed in as well. Dogfish were not a problem this week. All week, the pool winners were codfish in the 20lb range.

Heather from the office reports that we will continue to fish on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, as long as the weather permits. As a reminder, these trips are by reservation only and have limited space available, so be sure to call early to get your spot on board. When the weather cooperates, we’ll be doing some mid-week trips as well, so stay tuned to your email and our Facebook page for up to date info on that.
