Heather from the Black Hawk office reports a week of good fishing. During the week, our porgy and seabass trips showed some phenomenal fishing- jumbo seabass, limits all around, and we were throwing back keepers. Simply excellent fishing. Saturday’s trip, being a nice weather weekend day, was hampered by a greater number of boats in the area, and while we didn’t have limits like we did during the week, the fishing was still pretty good.
Sunday’s bluefish trip was another great day of fishing, with arm weary customers keeping their fill and releasing the rest. A few striped bass in the mix as well.
The Black Hawk was once again honored to hold the annual “Hook Up With A Vet” fishing trip last week. This trip is put together by the New England Salt Water Fishing Club. Every year we’re thrilled to be able to offer this trip to veterans residing at Rocky Hill Veterans Home. Once again, the trip was sponsored by Peter Pan bus company, who donated the bus, and Guertin Graphics, who donated t-shirts and trophies for the veterans. Everyone had a blast and caught their fill of bluefish. The vets even brought food to donate to the Gemma E Moran Food Bank in New London, which we delivered with a load of donated fish fillets. Truly one of our favorite evenings of the year and we’re honored to be a part of it.
As a reminder, we’re fishing one trip per day now through Columbus Day. Sundays & Mondays are for bass & blues at 8:00 am, Tuesday through Saturday is for pogies and seabass at 7:00 am. An updated schedule for after Columbus Day in October will be posted soon.
